June: Deception Pass (twice), Preschool Ends, James Island, and a Wedding

June was a fun, busy month for us.  There are more than a few pictures in this post, so make yourself comfortable!

We've lived in Anacortes for three years now, and we finally decided to take the girls to Deception Pass for a picnic.  (Coincidentally, it was one of the first places I took Mike when we first started dating 15 years ago.)

Unfortunately, it was a bit foggy when we arrived.

Everyone decided to truck on ahead; a picnic was to be had!

Hmm... can't quite see the water through the fog.

Fog or not, we were hungry!

Thankfully, the fog began to burn off after lunch.  It was time to throw some rocks!

It is very important to find the perfect rock.

Such sweet sisters!

Her Royal Highness.

Caught reading books!

Playing at Mia and Leo's house!

Mary and sweet Leo.  How I've missed the Konicheks!

We went to Alli's preschool picnic at Washington Park.  Alli had a great time playing with her friends.  Meet Lilianna, one of her best preschool friends.  She has the most darling British accent. :)

Alli and Lilianna with Teacher Liz!

The Three Musketeers:  Lilianna, Alli, and Sophia.

They are such sweet girls!

Laura, Julian, and big Willy came up to visit, and we decided to take them to Deception Pass for their first time.  The weather was MUCH nicer this time!

Avery spent 99% of the time playing in the sand.  Alli and Julian were all over the place!

Writing my name in the sand is such hard work!

Julian wrote his name, too!

Hi, Auntie Laura!

Taking a break?

"Let it goooooo..."  Oh, yes, Avery channeled Queen Elsa at the beach.

And again, "Let it goooooooo..."

Back to business.

Sandy Alli.

Someone is having a good time....

What is she so happy about?

Best friends.

Sand makes me happy. :)

Little do they know, we are planning their future wedding.  (Just kidding.  Or am I?...)

:)

Strike a pose. Go.

Walking Willy up the trail... or walking Alli up the trail?

Alli's class had an end-of-the-year field trip to the beach at Guemes Island, and Julian and Auntie Laura came with us!

Avery adores Sophia just as much as Alli does. :)

Looks like Avery made a new friend. :)

Kids everywhere!
  So fun!

Finding treasures.

Alli is officially finished with preschool!  I don't really know how that happened, but she is all signed up for kindergarten, and, according to her preschool teachers, she is more than ready for it!  Here she is, at her end-of-preschool celebration:

Teacher Marilyn talked about how Alli went from "the observer" in her first year of preschool to "a leader" by the end.  We are so proud!

Teacher Marilyn is proud, too.
We made a very captive audience.

She is getting so big!

Teacher Jody and Teacher Liz also noticed her blossom.  Teacher Jody had told me earlier in the year that other kids fought over Alli to play with or sit next to her, and that if she could have torn Alli in half, she would have to make things easier!

Alli loved Teacher Marilyn.

Alli loved Teacher Liz.

Alli loved Teacher Jody, too.

Lilianna and Alli.

Alli's "favorite boy" this year was Austin because he always made her laugh.  He seems to be a bit camera-shy.

Papa loves his grandbaby Julia!

Alli loves her, too!

And Gma loves Avery!

Avery always wants to hold her baby cousin.

So stinkin' cute!

Cousins!

An adorable family. :)

We took a quick boat ride with Curt and Kristin and the kids to explore James Island.  Kristin's parents' boat makes for a nice ride!

Exploring the beach.

Future Girl Scouts?

It was such a pretty day!

Smile, Curt and Kristin!

Ian, can you see?

We walked around most of the island.

Well, most of us walked around the island.

Mia and Alli had a great time, along with the rest of us!  Thank you for the trip!

On June 22nd, we went to Mike's cousin Katie's wedding in Spokane.  It was HOT.  So. Very. Hot.

Selfie fail.  Nice try, Mike.

Uncle Alan and Cousin Katie.  She was beautiful!

Katie and Eli, happily married at last!

Grandma Annie and Alli!

Alli and Aunt Emily!

Avery is so modest.

Grandma Annie and Grandpa!

Aunt Emily and Avery!

Aunt Emily's favorite nieces! :)

Father-daughter dance.

So happy... and moving to Ghana!

Grandpa sure can boogie!

Grandma Annie can boogie, too!

We left the girls behind in Spokane for a whole week (at Grandma and Grandpa's insistence).  Rather than going somewhere fun, we opted to be responsible adults and paint the exterior of our house.  While not a fun experience, it was rather productive, and we are grateful we had that time to knock out that daunting project in just a few days.  The girls had an amazing time which included trips to parks, a Costco shopping spree (we now have a gazillion packs of fruit snacks that were sent home with us), and suckering their grandparents into 16 (yes, 16) turns on the carousel.  I'd say it was an epic week!

Alas, the month ended with Uncle Chris visiting Anacortes for a final night before embarking on his fishing adventure in Alaska.  Mike was able to take pictures of him coming to the Cap Sante Marina.

After a quick night, he left.  Good luck in Alaska, Chris!  We are thinking about you!
